12-Day Peruvian Highlights Tour

Lima - Ica/Nasca – Ballestas Islands – Puerto Maldonado – Sacred Valley - Cusco 

ITINERARY: 

Day 1: You will depart for Lima. The adventure begins! Upon your arrival in Lima, you will be met by a driver and transferred to your hotel. The rest of your afternoon is free to rest up and prepare for this exciting trip. 

Day 2:  Lima - Today tour the "City of the Kings". Highlights include: the historic Plaza Mayor, the Government Palace, the City Hall, the Cathedral and the Archbishop's  Palace. Visit the Casa Aliaga,  America's best preserved colonial mansion. Proceed to the San Francisco Monastery. Drive through Miraflores and San Isidro and enjoy a magnificent view of the Pacific Coast. Finish the day with the Lacro Museum.
Evening Option: Dinner at Huaca Pucllana Restaurant. B, D

Day 3: Ica - Drive south on the Panamerican highway to Paracas Peninsula. Then we proceed with our trip to Ica. Take a flight over the mysterious Nasca Lines. Visit the regional museum in Ica.  Afterwards transfer to your hotel. B

Day 4: Ballestas Islands - Early morning departure for the Ballestas Islands, inhabited by boobies, pelicans, sea lions and penguins. View the unexplained figures of the Candelabro Lines. Return along the Pacific coast to Lima and the hotel.  Dinner at La Rosa Naútica Restaurant; enjoy this ocean side restaurant. B, D

Day 5: Puerto Maldonado - Depart for your flight to Puerto Maldonado; the biodiversity capital of Perú. Travel down the Madre de Dios River. See a variety of wildlife. You will be taken to the Ecoamazonia Lodge. In the afternoon, tour Monkey Island. End the day by enjoying the sunset. B, L, D

Day 6: Puerto Maldonado - Begin your guided adventure through the rainforest on foot to the Lost Cocha. Highlights include the Amazon Watch Tower, a canoe trip down the river to visit a local family living in the rainforest. B, L, D

Day 7: Cusco - Return trip to Puerto Maldonado and the airport for flight to Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco, you will be transferred to your hotel. Take a tour of the city, starting out at the Santo Domingo convent monastery, previously the Koricancha temple, devoted to worship of the sun. Also stop at the Plaza de Armas and the Cathedral. Afterwards you will be driven to the countryside outside Cusco to visit the culture centre of Sacsayhuaman, the temple and amphitheatre of Kenko, and the Red Fortress of Puca Pucara. B

Day 8: Cusco - Sacred Valley
Drive to the "Sacred Valley of the Incas" to visit Ollantaytambo, the Inca fortress, and walk through the quaint streets of the nearby town. Then, take a drive through the valley and bargain with vendors at a typical market in Pisac. Lunch at Tunupa Urubamba Restaurant. Novoandean, national and international dishes. B, L

Day 9: Urubamba - Machu Picchu
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to the Ollantaytambo train station for your train to Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival at Aguas Calientes, you'll be assisted and will take a 25-minute coach ride to "The Lost City of the Incas", discovered by American explorer Hiram Bingham in 1911. Then you'll have a guided tour of the marvelous citadel, an awe-inspiring experience. Later, feel free to stroll around the archaeological site. Buffet Lunch. B, L

Day 10: Machu Picchu - Cusco
We recommend that you wake up early to see the sunrise over Machu Picchu. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. For those interested, you can return to Machu Picchu for a second observation in the early morning. We must meet at the train station in the afternoon, for our return to Poroy by rail. Upon arrival, you'll be transferred to your hotel in Cusco.  The rest of the evening is free. B, L

Day 11: Cusco - Lima
Enjoy a free day about the city of Cusco, maybe do some last minute shopping and explore this Incan town. In Inca times Cusco was both a political capital and religious centre. This beautiful and culturally rich city was declared a World Heritage Site in 1983 by UNESCO, it is also known as the archaeological capital of the Americas. 

Evening Option: Dinner at La Dama Juana Restaurant. La Dama Juana is a tribute to Peru, to it’s people, art, culture and culinary richness. We can find many details of the style and way of living from every region of our country.  B, D

Day 12: Lima - USA

The morning is free before your transfer to the airport for your flight back to the USA with a lifetime of memories! B
