ITINERARY:
Day 1 Fly to Melbourne
Day 2 Melbourne
Today you will arrive in Melbourne, Australia. You will be transferred to your hotel. This afternoon you will have a half day city sights tour of Melbourne. There are tons of great places to shop in Melbourne. We recommend seeing the Queen Victoria Markets, which is a delightful assembly of shops.
Evening option: The Colonial Tramcar Dinner
Day 3 Melbourne
Today you will see the famous Great Ocean Road. You will have a coach tour along the Great Ocean Road, where you will be able to see the Twelve Apostles, Island Arch, Razorback and the rugged coastline. You will be returned to your hotel in the late evening.
Day 4 Melbourne
This afternoon travel south to Phillip Island. Stop at Warrook Cattle Farm for afternoon tea (own expense). Visit the Koala Conservation Centre and enjoy dinner at Cowes (own expense), where there is a variety of cafes and restaurants. Visit the Nobbies and Seal Rocks Life Centre and view the treacherous Bass Strait. The Penguin Parade is one of Australia's most popular natural tourist attractions. Witness the Penguin's daily journey from the sea to the land, returning to their nests to feed their awaiting families. Return to Melbourne late this evening.
Day 5 Melbourne – Tasmania
You will fly from Melbourne to Hobart. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. You will next have a walking tour around the downtown area. The rest of the day is free, there are great dining options around downtown.
Day 6 Hobart - Port Arthur
You will be picked up from your hotel this morning for a tour of Port Arthur. Port Arthur Historic Site is a compelling and dramatic reminder of Australia’s convict past and early settlement of the Colony of Van Dieman's Land, now Tasmania. Interpretive and interactive presentations bring to reality the harrowing life of convicts 200 years ago.
This tour offers maximum time at Port Arthurs Historic Side. The also includes a visit to the Old Bush Mill Steam Railway and Settlement. Here you will experience life as it was for Tasmania’s early timber pioneers. Take a ride on Australia’s most unique Steam Railway. Full day tour includes Guided tour of Port Arthur, Harbour cruise, Port Arthur admission, Bush Mill Steam Train Rise and Bush Mill Admission.
Day 7 Hobart –
Today you will see one of the World's last remaining wilderness frontiers, South West Tasmania by a scenic flight. Within this remote World Heritage national park are magnificent Federation Peak, Western Arthur Range and Australia's southern most point, South East Cape. The tour includes aircraft transfers, boat trip to Bathurst Harbour, even a chance to see the endangered Orange Bellied Parrot.
Day 8 Fly Home
Today you will fly from Hobart back home via Melbourne with a lifetime of wonderful memories.
